Maverick is a multirole helicopter, it is use for lots of different tasks. Maverick is manufactured by a non-existing in the real world British company Buckingham, which parodies such real aviation-manufacturing companies, as Bell Helicopter, Learjet, Bombardier Aerospace.
Buckingham Maverick made it’s first appearance for a gaming community in a long-passed year 2002, in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, and since then it has sticked with GTA series and was seen in each game of GTA series, except for GTA: Chinatown Wars. In GTA 5, a default, civilian variant of the plane usually has a stripped, red and white paint job.
Buckingham Maverick took Los Santos Police Department’s fancy, and they are happy to unleash those beasts upon unsuspecting criminals. However, the police variant of Maverick is not just an another “modification” of a civilian helicopter, actually it is a different model, though they bear the same name. The police variant is slightly ahead of the civilian one in terms of acceleration and manoeuvrability.
Maverick also attracted emergency services, and, just like the police, they don’t want to use a civilian variant of the helicopter. The Air Ambulance is a repainted and re-equipped variant of a police Maverick. Medical Maverick has no purpose in gameplay, however, and appears only in at certain places.
